As the world turns….

Life has been a whirlwind of activity lately. The kids are playing a lot of hockey which usually means driving all over small town Alberta looking for a rink we’ve never been too.

This weekend our club put on their tournament so we spent the weekend working at that while the kids played games. It was also Nicole’s birthday so that meant throwing a few parties. First, there was the party after their last game on Saturday, because that was her real birthday but we couldn’t have a ‘real party’ due to the hockey schedule. Then there was the little party that evening with just the family. Then the next day we played more hockey, and yesterday ( a holiday in Alberta ) we had a ‘real party’ with all her friends from school. Its exhausting to usher in a new year with this kid!!

As usual, the adopted Grandparents came through with the coolest gift ever. Here is one very thrilled 8 year old with her new digital camera!

We already uploaded a hilarious mixture of pictures of her and Grant playing dead and of course, self portraits.

In other news, the long awaited decision came down from the ogres (that would be me and Ron) about the possibility of having a dirt bike for the kids. Poor Grant, he’s been asking me since last summer, ‘have you guys finished thinking about it yet’.

We picked up a beautiful little Yamaha dirt bike but, of course, that is like torture because there is still two months of winter left.

The other night when checking the kids before bed, Ron came and got me to have a look at our son. That kid is so cute. And he really, really loves his helmet!!

He didn’t even wake up when I turned the light on so I could get a decent photo! In fact, he didn’t even wake up when Ron pryed it off.

awwww… too sweet! and Happy Birthday to your beautiful little girl! how fun to have multiple parties! (more so for her than for you, i suspect 😉 )

we have similar pics of our boys when helmets and knee-pads were a part of their daily “gear” — what i wouldn’t give to see them care about such precautions today (something happens when they grow up, and “safety” kind of flies out the door. sigh) xox

    What precious pictures!

My 15 year old cousin plays hockey too-he was actually in the hospital a few times with injuries. Broken arm. And just this week he needed a cat scan because he got a hockey stick to the neck and was knocked out. Lots of fun that sport.

  9. quilldancer says:

Love the helmet wearing! That’s some dedicated waiting! And, Happy Birthday to Nicole.

  10. IDV says:

Wow! I’m surprised that Grant hasn’t popped with anticipation.

Although, it’s a good job he hasn’t, as that helmet certainly wouldn’t’ve contained all the mess…

  11. IDV says:

Umm… That sounded rude. I didn’t mean it like that. I’ve obviously spent too much time at Piggy & Tazzy’s.

Doug-yes, he’s a great sleeper…its all that innocence and purity you know?
    Thanks for the birthday wishes.

ames-yes, hockey can definitely be dangerous, especially when they are older and checking is allowed. at this age its non contact, thankfully.

    Bronwen-thanks 🙂

    quilldancer-he’s like a dog with a bone.

IDV-anticipation luckily can’t cause head popping 🙂 Don’t worry about soundngi rude, I didnt take it that way.

Hi, They are adorable! Happy Birthday to Nicole and Happy biking to Grant when the snow goes.
We have snow here and it feels like a interior winter today. The snow is the light powder that skiers call Champagne. I don’t think my flowers are very impressed with the white blanket of cold white stuff on them.
It’s March and after the wacky winter we have had they should have stayed in the ground for another month!just to be sure it really is spring.

  24. Wow those kids are so cute. And you a very nice blog. God bless.

  25. The Phoenix says:

That’s a great picture! Looks cozy.

  26. I’m back! Lots of catching up to do – you can take off Runemeister and add me!

Only another week before you get to hit the road – I’ll wave as you go by… 😀 Wish I was going too.
